FAQs

How are Western Grassfed Beef cattle raised?
Our 100% grass fed cattle are treated humanely, raised in low-stress environments and never subjected to hormone-induced growth or fed or administered antibiotics for any reason. WGB’s cattle are never fed animal by-products or grain based feeds and graze on open pastures and rangelands.

Where are Western Grassfed Beef cattle raised?
All of WGB’s cattle are verified to be born and raised in the United States. They are nurtured by family ranchers in California, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, New Mexico, and Colorado.

What breed are Western Grassfed Beef cattle?
All WGB cattle are genetically English breeds. By raising only English breeds on natural grasses, legumes and range forage, WGB is able to offer the most flavorful and tender grass fed beef in the country. Our dedication to English genetics means our beef is juicy, delicious and evenly marbled.

What do Western Grassfed Beef cattle eat?
WGB cattle thrive on their mother's milk and a 100% grass fed diet their entire lives. This is why we talk about grass fed and grass finished in describing the WGB way. Lots of companies will claim the grass fed title, but the majority of them finish their cattle with grain to bulk up their weight. At WGB we never, ever, ever feed the cattle anything except grass. Grass fed to start. Grass fed to finish.

Yes, because our grass fed beef is naturally lower in fat, it cooks 30 percent faster than grain fed beef. This is particularly important if you prefer your steaks rare to medium-rare. See our cooking tips for more information on cooking the perfect cut.
